Gandhinagar: Lockdown may be imposed in 8 municipal areas in Gujarat due to increasing transmission of corona. The state government is considering the matter. States, including Delhi-Rajasthan, have also announced partial lockdowns to break the corona chain.
Corona case crosses 1 lakh in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad has the highest number of corona cases and the death toll has risen. In Ahmedabad, the number of corona infected patients has crossed 1 lakh while more than 2600 patients have died. In the month of April alone, more than 30,000 positive cases of corona have been reported in Ahmedabad.
Increased demand for oxygen
The bed in Ahmedabad Civil Hospital is not empty. The Civil Hospital is 97 per cent full of corona patients. To meet the growing demand for oxygen, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will convert 500 isolation beds into oxygen beds. For this 1000 oxygen (O2) cylinders have been procured from Kutch by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation overnight.
The state is witnessing a serious condition of corona. The state government is also acknowledging that the hospital beds are not empty. The state has come up against 10,340 positive cases of corona in the last 24 hours while 110 patients have lost their lives. In the 18 days of April alone, 858 patients have lost their lives due to corona in Gujarat.
