Hurricane 'Tau Te' wreaks havoc in Saurashtra, 8 to 10 inches of rain forecast today, true facts of erosion will come out today

 Saurastra was hit hard by a hurricane during the Corona period


 6 inches of rain in 4 talukas of Saurashtra including Rajkot


 8 to 10 inches of rain is forecast in the coastal area today


 At around 7.30 am, a hurricane struck the coast of Saurashtra with 150 km of strong winds and rains. The hurricane was devastating.  The power system has suffered the most.

The true nature of the devastation caused by the hurricane this morning will come out.  In Una, in Khambha, in Mahuva, in Gir Gadha-Savarkundla, 2 inches, torrential rain has fallen from 10 to 12 o'clock at night.  In addition, 21 talukas, including all coastal areas, have received up to five and a half inches of rain.


 The hurricane is estimated to have caused extensive damage at speeds of 150 to 120 kmph at night. The rains have also broken along with the hurricane.  Most PGVCLs are thought to have suffered losses.


 Power supply has been disrupted in many villages due to falling of power poles and breakage of transformers and wires.  The coastal areas of Saurashtra are forecast to receive 8 to 10 inches of rain tomorrow after the hurricane strikes.

 The meteorological department has issued red alert in Junagadh, Somnath, Amreli, Diu, Bhavnagar, Botad districts while orange alert has been issued in Rajkot, Surendranagar and yellow alert in Morbi, Porbandar, Jamnagar.  The coastal Saurashtra coast has been hit by late night thunderstorms as well as rains. There are reports of 4.5 inches of rain falling in 21 talukas of Saurashtra, including Rajkot.  The meteorological department has forecast 8 to 10 inches of rain in coastal areas tomorrow.


 Bhavnagar district has received 0 to 5 inches of rain in general. Mahuva has received 2.5 inches of rain while Una has received reports of 5 inches of rain and it is still raining.  Sources said that two mm of rain fell in Rajkot due to heavy rains during the night.

 Light to heavy rains are being reported in 21 talukas including Halwad, Kalawad, Jasdan, Botad, Jamjodhpur, Sutrapada, Jamkandora, Chuda, Paddhari, Sayla, Talala and Wankaner.  In Amreli district, Rajula received 40 mm, Jafrabad 24 mm, Khambha 110 mm and Amreli 2 mm of rain.  The wind was blowing at a speed of 120 kmph in Jafrabad.  Extremely alarming signal number 10 has been installed at the ports of Rajula and Jafrabad talukas.  All the markets in Rajula-Jaffarabad are closed.  People are forbidden to go out of the house except for work.
